But the Courant‘s situation is in some ways worse than it is in Connecticut’s other struggling newspapers, mostly because of the Courant‘s extraordinarily poor ownership. The paper long regarded as the gold standard in the state, the Hartford Courant, seems to be exhaling its last gasp.
